Topic: Help buying a yixing tea pot

Hey every one I am new to this but I have really fallen in love with tea....I want to invest in a yixing pot but i dont want to get a bad one....does any one know where I could get a good one but not too expensive?

Re: Help buying a yixing tea pot

Try ebay. I found some really good yixing pots there that are under $10. Make sure you buy a new pot because yixing pots retain the flavors of the tea, so you don't want a used pot that you don't know what kind of tea was steeped in it before.

I would say Ebay is the last place to go looking for a decent yixing.  It is almost a sure thing that someone who doesn't know what to look for will get ripped off. I would recomend jing tea shop, skip4tea ,essenceoftea or  thechineseteashop

Not true. There are some good vendors in there.

I agree. Even the budget teapots under $15 arent all that bad. You can find some nice ones but youre gonna pay. I would suggest enjoying tea as a nice compromise.

I would personally be wary of cheap ebay pots, particularly from some of the vendors mentioned above. At some point, there are potentially safety issues. That's especially an issue in the case of 5000friend, which is infamous for fake-aging pots. Even if well cleaned, I'd be anxious about using their pots for brewing tea.
