Topic: Newbie Question about a new Yi Xing pot

Hi everyone - so glad to find this forum.  I purchased a yi xing pot at a local Boulder tea shop and started using it right away.  Now a few months later I realize the importance of seasoning a pot first, and but not having a Yi Xing Time Machine handy, my question is: now that the pot's been used for several months, is it still worthwhile to go through the seasoning process?  Thanks for your help!

Re: Newbie Question about a new Yi Xing pot

Personally, I don't have any special "seasoning" that I do with a pot, other than maybe boiling it in water for a little. If you've been using it already, there is no need to do anything special to the pot. I would just keep using it, which is really the important thing.

Thanks.  I may not be using the right word, but I think you got what I meant.  I read this post on Gongfu Girl's site, and was concerned that somehow the pot wouldn't do whatever magic things yixing pots do if I skipped this.  I can rest at ease now. ;-)  http://www.gongfugirl.com/seasoning-a-n … ng-teapot/

Don't forget to rinse inside with hot water at the end of brewing...cleaning inside is more important than outside
