Topic: Use of cast iron kettle

I am planning on buying an old Japanese cast iron, non enamelled kettle. Will I be able to actually use it as a teapot - boiling water in another kettle and then pouring it into the cast iron kettle with its leaves? Also can I use the kettle to heat the water and then just add the tea leaves? many thanks

Re: Use of cast iron kettle

The unenamelled cast iron kettles should only be used for boiling water. You should use another vessel (probably porcelain or stoneware) to brew the tea.
