Persevering in the fight against bandits and malaria, they established a professional-tea factory with surprising speed, and successfully marketed their products to South and Southeast Asia. Goods and profits received for the sale or trade of their products were used to support efforts in the Anti-Japanese War going on at the time.
In the course of 68 years of development, although the black tea and green tea established places as market leaders, The Menghai tea factory established its own unique place in the Chinese tea industry and pushed Yunnan Pu'er tea towards its peak. In 2008, the Yunnan Province Tea Processing Research Center was established at this factory; and in the same year the "Dayi Tea Production Technique" as a representative for Pu'er tea was added to the "national level intangible cultural heritage list."
