Topic: Small translation request - tea package

A member of TeaChat picked up a pack of tea (DHP?) for me on a trip to Malaysia. The stuff is really good, but the package is entirely in Chinese (I'm assuming it's Chinese, anyway). So I was wondering if anyone could translate what's on the package for me?

I try not to do this too much - I'm sure everyone has better things to do than to translate stuff like this - but I would really appreciate it. I'm wondering if the "2001" on the bottom is the production year, especially, but of course I'd like to know more about the rest of what it says anyway.

(Just for the record, I didn't take these pictures; herb_master did.)

I know this one says Da Hong Pao, but what about the red seal/logo?:

Thanks in advance :)

Re: Small translation request - tea package

I don't know if there is any specific information helpful to indentify (except for maybe tel. number :D)

Introduction says things like mother Da Hong Pao had been cut and used for asexual reproduction in 90's, that still preserves the taste and 'Yan Yun' exactly like old time..

Interesting, thanks. What about the line with "2001" in the second to last picture?

I think it's about how the product is inspected before selling, I understand that linking with time it was produced.

Cos my Puerh Zhuancha (2006) says the exact same..

Re: Small translation request - tea package

The part where it says 2001 is when the company got its health certificate from the board of health in Fujian province.

The part where it has a production date is left blank. So it could have been packaged any year since 2001. But not necessarily any older than last years tea.

Re: Small translation request - tea package

Hehe..so I asked my Chinese friends about it.

They seemed as well confused about the credit, some weighed more on the product than the company,

Reason is every Chinese products should have credit of when it's produced, so in this case 生产日期 is not needed just by showing when it was supervised or maybe it's Bing not loose-leaf.

some said it's not year but just a number of product..

But this is China...

Re: Small translation request - tea package

When first time seeing it on teachat, I called the number on the package and talked with a few people in the factory. I also asked some people in China what they think about this brand. It seems a reliable brand, the factory grew larger and larger in the past several years, hence it's products may have the features of large factory - good, reliable quality of leaves, machine processed, pretty good quality but not comparable to upscale hand-processed tea. I posted on teachat photos of another DHP product of the same brand. The paper wrapped DHP has very good price, but I couldn't find the paper wrapped product newer than 3 years old. I suspect the factory raised the price a lot in recent years and stopped producing this kind of packages. I guess currently this brand is quite over-priced compared with the small factory, non-branded products, but it's still less over-priced than large brand names like "wu yi star".

Since the tea is bought from Malaysia, I trust it's authentic (besides this brand is not the target of faking products). This package looks like at least 3 years old. The standard number starting with DB is the quality control code for Fujian province. But after 2006, brand name products of Wu Yi tea all use GB code (national standard). The authentic Wu Yi tea has GB/T18745-2006 code, which means "Wu Yi geographic patent". I compared the codes on 3 brand name tea products I have and they are exactly the same. But of course products from small factories and tea farmers don't have this code, though they usually offer the best quality/price ratio.
